Phoenix City Councilwoman Peggy Neely received a record number of votes for her third term on the Phoenix City Council. In fact, the 11,392 votes cast for Neely in her unopposed bid represents more votes than the complete turnout of her last election.
In September of 2005, 9,609 voters turned out for the District 2 election with Neely winning with 68% of the vote. Despite an early election date, turnout was higher than 2005, with Neely gathering 100% of the vote.
Along with a robust team of volunteers, HighGround helped Neely run a comprehensive campaign with a full slate of voter education along with meetings and events with constituents. Neely took the opportunity to have a dialogue with voters regarding the successes of the past 8 years while highlighting the work that still needs to be done.
“Peggy has been non-stop from the day she started gathering petitions all the way to answering questions from voters on their way to the polls,” said Ryan Smith, Neely’s campaign manager, “Her passion for the District really shows.”
HighGround’s President Chuck Coughlin commended Neely’s commitment saying, “She ran this time with the same intensity as her last two elections, running unopposed and still being able to boost turnout demonstrate that good campaigns help create good government.”
The HighGround team congratulates Councilwoman Peggy Neely for her decisive victory.
